Founders of Tech Week Humber, GBE Connect, have become official partners of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). The new partnership is only the second in the UK and first in the North of England and promises to build a strong relationship between Dubai and the Humber region.
“We are delighted to become official partners of DMCC. To be the first company in the North of England makes it that extra bit special. We can’t wait to start working with them and exploring the possibilities for collaboration in the Humber region” Antonio Tombanane – Director of GBE Connect
DMCC was established in 2002 by the Government of Dubai to provide the physical market and financial infrastructure required to establish a hub for global commodities trade. Earlier this year the DMCC was awarded Global Free Zone by Financial Times fDi magazine for the sixth consecutive year. “Home to over 18,000 companies, DMCC is the world’s leading Free Zone and Government of Dubai Authority for commodities trade and enterprise. Located in the heart of Dubai, DMCC attracts innovators from across the globe and provides them with supportive ecosystems to scale and grow their business. Partnering with Tech Week is a great chance to tell the story of Dubai in the UK and highlight the commercial opportunity that exists in Dubai. We look forward to the event with great promise” James Bernard, Regional Representative – Europe, DMCC.
As the world’s fasted-growing Free Zone, the DMCC is a leading center for trading international commodities. They are a home for multinationals and start-ups alike connecting more than 17,500 businesses. GBE Connect believes that there is a strong link between themselves and DMCC as they both strive to drive digital innovation.
So what does this partnership mean to Humber businesses in tech and other industries? With GBE Connect as a key partner of DMCC, businesses in the region will have access to the UAE market where the demand for both British products and tech has never been higher. This partnership will also present opportunities for collaboration with other Dubai businesses.
Both parties are due to work together for the first time in November as they unite for Tech Week Humber. DMCC has got behind the event as strategic partners and will be promoting the week as well as hosting their very own round table event. DMCC European Representative, James Bernard, will also be taking to the virtual stage to discuss the links between tech & the UAE and the opportunities it holds for UK tech businesses.
